Memories: That Light Up the Heart

“Memories are timeless treasures of the heart.” – Anonymous.

Memories are Special

There comes a time in life when the heart feels heavy, and loneliness creeps in. I go into the past and cherish the moments with certain people and places. Those memories help me to relax for a while, and they give me a sense of comfort. Sometimes, those memories are the only things in my life that provide me strength to move forward and stay hopeful in the present time.

A few months ago, I lost my pet, but his memories will forever remain in my heart. Along the way I have lost some people too, because life happened. That does not mean that they are gone from my life! They remain alive in my memories and continue to keep my heart warm! It does not matter whether the memories created with them were good or bad; they will always remain with me, hopefully until I die.

The beautiful memories created with my pets, people, and places in the past give me a reason to smile. They motivate me to move forward in life, and give me hope. And, the painful memories give me a reason to cry. Well, sometimes crying is good for health.

Power of Memories

I believe that the memories I have created in the past have shaped me into a person I am today. After my dog died, I realized what grief is and how hard it can be. I have become a good listener, because I found people who listened to me, and made me feel better when I was going through a rough phase in life.

Sometimes when I feel distanced from some people or place, the memories from the past are the only things that keep me tied to them. They remind me why I care, why I love, and why I continue to hold on, no matter the situation I find myself in today.

I have learned to appreciate the present moments because soon, they will become memories in the blink of an eye. These moments will one day become the memories that light up my heart.

What memories light up your heart? Feel free to share them in the comments below or keep them close to your heart as you continue your journey.
